The kitchenaid stand mixer is a very powerful mixer equipped to deal with any mixing task, and a wise investment for those who spend a lot of time cooking.

This Kitchenaid stand mixer is retailing at the $250 mark, and is an extremely powerful standalone mixer that can handle any mixing job. This is a very powerful machine that will satisfy even a full time expert chef. It is 325 watts and has a massive 10 speed settings. It comes with a whole raft of accessories and fittings, including a flat beater, dough hook, and wire whip. It is also fitted with a pouring shield to protect against splash backs, and has a chute which provides a clean easy way to add ingredients to the bowl.

Performance

The 10 different speed settings on this model provide enough range of speed and power for every possibility. Having so many settings provides great control over the mixing process, and gives you the ability to accurately produce the results you want. The tilt able head provides easy access to the ingredients inside. It weighs in at a hefty 26 pounds, but is a standalone mixer so you do not need to lift it other than to move it around your kitchen. The other great advantage of being standalone is that you can set it to mix and carry on with other activities, instead of having to supervise it or hold any equipment. It is quite loud, but with the sheer power it possesses, this is not surprising.

Appearance

The Kitchenaid has a sleek modern appearance, with an all white interior and metallic bowl. It really does look good and will complement even the most stylish of kitchens. It has a very high build quality and feels very sturdy and durable.   One negative is that it can be a bit awkward to clean, however due to the size and complexity of the attachments, this is to be expected.

Verdict

This is a comprehensive cake mixer, and is somewhat overkill for somebody who is just looking for a cake mixer or a machine that can provide basic mixing. This is designed to be an all purpose mixer that can handle anything you throw at it. The price is large, but you get what you pay for. However for a fraction of the cost, you can purchase a more than reasonable hand mixer that will accomplish everything that most people require. However the Kitchenaid is sturdy, looks fantastic, and has huge amounts of power. For the keen amateur chef and professional alike, this is a great investment.

Although this stand mixer delivers on everything that it promises, the price demands that it do so. We feel that such an expensive machine is somewhat pricing itself out of the market, when there are hand mixers available for under $30 that will complete all but the hardest of mixing jobs. We would recommend this only for those who do a serious amount of cooking. If it is just a basic cake mixer you are after, stick to a £30 hand mixer.
